How Fat Pocket collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Fat Pocket ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide directly
- Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and message content when you use our contact form.
- Newsletter sign-ups — your email address if you subscribe to updates.
b) Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, clicks, and navigation patterns, collected via Google Analytics.
- Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and approximate location (country/region level).
- IP address — used for geographic analytics and security. We do not store or share your full IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 3 below.
c) Calculator inputs
Data you enter into our financial calculators (mortgage amounts, income, savings) is processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit or store this data on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your contact form enquiries via EmailJS
- To understand how visitors use our site and improve our content (Google Analytics)
- To serve relevant advertisements (Google AdSense)
- To monitor site performance and stability (Vercel Analytics)
- To send newsletters if you have subscribed (you may unsubscribe at any time)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

- ratesapi.nz — financial rate data (no personal data shared)
5. Data Retention
- Contact form messages are retained for up to 12 months for customer service purposes.
- Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months per our configuration.
- We do not retain calculator inputs — they are never transmitted to us.
6. Your Rights Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information (where we are legally permitted to do so)
- Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner

7. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our website is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure, which maintains industry-standard security practices. We do not store payment information — Fat Pocket is a free service.
8. Children's Privacy
Fat Pocket is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
